Greetings

Welcome to PEI Culinary Tours where I am on a quest to help people source local, organic produce, seafood and meats of Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island.

My goal is to share information I will gain as I visit local producers of culinary delights on both land and sea.

This blog will show you where and how to obtain the most amazing tasting vegetables, the freshest seafood and organic, free-range meat on Prince Edward Island.

PEI Culinary Tours is a glimpse of the people and places that provide fresh, quality foods from Prince Edward Island.

Join me on a journey as I source the freshest local ingredients for my heritage Inn and restaurant.

Summer Garden

I’m a very fortunate Chef to have established a close relationship with Joe and Gail Kern.  Joe and Gail own a place called Summer Garden B&B in Argyle shore P.E.I. and they grow the best produce around. It’s one thing to buy nice produce but it’s anouther when the grower so obviously proud of thier crop that it is maticulusly washed and arangted in a banana box  When Joe brings it in the back door of my restaurant I feel very Lucky indeed.

Following is a sample of what I get from Joe and Gail. Spring spinach, mixed greens of the size I like (smallish), baby carrots, rainbow chard, Asian greens, cherry tomatoes, herbs, herbs and more herbs, broccoli, sugar snap peas, celery, celeriac, summer squash, winter squash and lots of other great garden goodies. The Kern’s don’t do allot of selling in markets although they can be found at a small summer market in Victoria-by-the-sea. Their B&B is on the web and they will sell to nice people who call and drop out. In season of course.
